My parents, Tami and Dave, started Bigun’s in 1990 after moving to Brooksville from St. Pete. They had a dream to own a small family restaurant where they could serve up home cooked meals and guests would become family. That is exactly what they’ve done.
Libby and I grew up at Bigun’s. We both started as dishwashers in 9th grade. My parents recognized Libby's amazing work ethic and she was quickly promoted to server. I on the other hand was hired and fired a few times (Sometimes it's difficult working for your parents). We both continued to work at Bigun's through our high school years. Not long after graduating from high school I began working for Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative where I enjoyed a 20 year career. Libby worked at Bigun's while pursuing her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, she began teaching at a local elementary school.
In 2021 my parents decided they were ready to retire. Libby and I weren't ready to let someone else take over what my parents built so we decided to buy Bigun's. You'll find Libby in the dinning room spreading cheer with her infectious smile and joyful spirit. I'm in the kitchen trimming meats, prepping sides and tending to the smoker. It's our goal to continue providing high quality food at fair prices in an environment where guests feel like part of our family.
If you drive by the restaurant early in the morning you'll smell it. We Smoke all of our meats daily. No leftovers served here. That means on some occasions we may run out. If you're looking to order meat by the pound, ribs by the slab, whole chickens or sides by the quart we recommend placing your order at least a day ahead of time so we can ensure we have what you need.
We're not just a BBQ joint. We have been serving made to order breakfasts for over 30 years. All of our breakfast meats are cooked to order. This includes thick cut bacon, breakfast sausage links, patties, ham steaks, jalapeño sausage and smoked sausage. We offer pancakes made with home made pancake batter, scratch made sausage gravy over biscuits and our almost famous fresh made corned beef hash. Our Omelettes are made with 3 XL eggs and generously filled with fresh ingredients. Breakfast is our favorite meal and we hope it becomes yours as well.
